In honour of Barack Obama

At this historic moment in time I want to take the opportunity to acknowledge the president elect Barak Obama!

It seems to me that this event is a symbol of the maturity of the citizens of the U.S. We are all living in a time when we must lay aside our differences and arise together to serve for the betterment of the world.

I came across a statement today by Abdu'l-Baha, the son of Baha'u'llah who is the Founder of the Baha'i Faith. It is fitting for today. Abdu'l-Baha said that "We must now highly resolve to arise and lay hold of all those instrumentalities that promote the peace and well-being and happiness, the knowledge, culture and industry, the dignity, value and station, of the entire human race.
(Abdu'l-Baha, The Secret of Divine Civilization, p. 3)

Obama's victory is a reminder of the ideals that we must strive for -- equality, unity, peace.

It is not an issue of black and white. It is an issue of our humanness.

I am so happy to be here to witness this turning point in history and my prayers are with Obama and his family today for their well-being and success.

Hello! I am thrilled to find the virtues project as we are beginning to write our mission statement for our family after 15 years of marriage. We have 6 kids, and loove life.
Came across your blog and wanted to thank you for it. Your time and your family as well.

Just a note about your blog on our president elect...it's a wonderful moment for them and us as his supporters ... now we all need to support him.

Did you know, though, that he is committed very firmly and resolutely to promoting abortion rights, which trample on those innocent little babies, and on the moms who very very often have a feeling of no where else to turn? the Freedom of Choice act, which he promised to Planned Parenthood he would make his first priority virtually eliminates all regulations on abortion practice in our country. 3,600 babies die a day through abortion, and therefore so many women suffering as well.

Just curious if you knew, and what you thought.

Thanks again for your help for our family...

Hi Therese,

Congratulations on writing a mission statement for your family! It is never too late to start and you are not behind. Your kids will thank you for it no matter how old they are.

In regards to your comments on the president, I was not aware that that was his stance on abortion and I am sad to hear that. Unfortunately, every leader will display things that we agree with and things that we do not.

In my opinion, I try to not get too involved in politics or too concerned about what corruption or bad judgements are being used by our leaders. I feel that the political instututions around us are crumbling, as are many others, and we will find as the years go on that new institutions of justice that value all human rights replace the old ones.

We cannot stare at the wrong-doings of the world and feel sadened. We must always face the solutions and feel joy and gratitude that the world is changing for the better. Little by little, day by day.

Please let me know how things are going in your home with the Virtues Project. And post new comments at my new blog...www.daystarmom.blogspot.com.

Thanks so much for your comment!
